Degy Management Services, Inc. made its entrance into the music industry in the latter part of 1996. Ari Nisman joined forces with Josh Degenstein to create a company that was designed around their passion for the entertainment industry and their love for music. Originally based out of Ann Arbor, MI where both owners have their roots, Nisman and Degenstein saw an opportunity to move the firm to a richer music market in Richmond, VA.

Ari Nisman is the company's President and CEO. He obtained a degree from the University of Michigan in
Communications with a concentration in business. His experience in the music industry dates back several years. Though always interested in the music and the arts, it wasn't until the early 1990's when Nisman developed a passion for the industry. After sustained work with Polydor/Atlas Records, a major record label based out of Hollywood, CA, he decided to broaden his knowledge of the business. Nisman joined up with Capitol Records as a field-marketing representative for the Michigan region. Working with major artists such as George Clinton, John Spencer, Eric Johnson, and Stir, Nisman built a strong working knowledge for marketing and promoting big bands. But it was his work with the newer, inexperienced bands which gave Nisman more pleasure. "It was amazing to see the progression of the newer artists. For them, the opportunity was a learning experience, as it was for me. I saw an opportunity to do more for aspiring artists, to help them grow. Degy Management was the answer. It is and will continue to be our devotion to new bands that makes us unique. So many people aren't willing to take a chance on new talent, but that's the only way you can hope to find the future stars."

Josh Degenstein, Degy Management's Senior Vice-President and COO comes to the company from the New York area. He, too, graduated from the University of Michigan obtaining a
degree in General Studies - Business. Degenstein's music experience dates back to his early years when he played drums for the New York band, Malestrom. After taking a hiatus from the band to attend college, Degenstein began to study the business side of music. His work with Capitol Record's bands such as Nil Lara, Luscious Jackson, and Mazzy Star demonstrated his ability to build new artists through promotion and marketing. His creativity has been both recognized and utilized by many aspiring bands to market themselves in the industry. Degenstein has successfully negotiated contracts with several indie labels and has recently added intern relations for DMS to his list of duties.
