Tampa, FL

Some attractions in Tampa include:

Busch Gardens - If you aren't up for the drive to Disney World, spend the day at Busch Gardens. For more info and special events - call 813 987 5082.

To Remember - Tampa Bay's holocaust memorial museum. It's located on First Ave South, but for directions, call 813 820 0100.

Restaurants in the area:

1. Kosher Corner (813 936 CHAI) - A true Kosher Deli located at 2315 W. Linebaugh Ave. Don't expect any late hours or for it to be open on Saturday, but if you're looking for a Cornbeef on Rye, this is the place to go.

2. Zudar's (813 258 3112) - Another good deli in town. They make tons up homemade soups for lunch and offer plenty of salads.

3. Sam Oh Jung (813 871 3233) - In the mood for Japanese? Located at 602 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, this Japanese steakhouse and sushi bar flips shrimp with the best of them.

Venues:

Brass Mug - 1441 E. Fletcher Ave.
(813 972 8152)
A venue that has been known to have a "tough" crowd. I've seen this term in a few books, but haven't been able to get a good description of the meaning as of yet. It has a capacity around 350, and they primarily book alternative, rock, and metal acts.

The Rubb - 1507 E. 7th Ave.
(813 248 2304)
Another large venue in town, right in the hot spot of entertainment (E. 7th). Bookings go through the talent buyer, Jack Spatafora.

Skipper's Smokehouse -
910 Skipper Rd.
(813 977 6474)
The mid-week shows are locked up by house bands. The crowd tends to be on the "older" side, so he tries to stick towards lighter music or anything that won't be classified as "extreme". Tom White handles the bookings and his hours are mid-week from 12-5PM EST.

Frankie's Patio - 1920 E. 7th Ave.
(813 248 3337)
Frankie's is ironically booked by a guy named Frank (who is also, ironically, the owner), and he has hours all week long. It is a pretty large venue boasting a capacity over 1100. It has a great location on the Tampa version of the "The Strip".

Round-Up - 13918 W. Hillsborough Ave.
(813 760 2467)
A country venue with a capacity of 800. Best of speak with Fred Golpa who is the promoter for the club.

Kasey's Cove - 2025 E. Fowler
(813 977 2683)
Don't know much about this little spot. Capacity is around 250 and Peter, who books the venue, is available for calls on M, W, F after 5PM EST.

The Masquerade - 1503 E. 7th Ave
(813 247 2518)
I don't normally include the very large venues, as they are normally not the ones that you should be concentrating on, but here's one with a little lounge area. The larger theater area seats about 1300 people, but the lounge is around a 200 person spot. For an act to really get into The Masquerade, they normally are on a support basis that is already locked ahead of time.

University of S. Florida -
(813 238 8001)
The campus activities board handles the bookings for the school. They have a large theater, but also run several smaller festivals and events on campus.
