Ska
is definitely back and there is no better than the icons of the scene, The
Toasters. Formed in the lower east side of NYC in 1981,
The Toasters have gone on to become the linchpins of the US ska scene, and are
the longest running act in the genre. They have released over 10 albums
over the ten years and logged an incredible 4,000 live shows around the world.
In 1997, Billboard Magazine called them "New York's ska
pioneers," for crossing many barriers, including taking their trademark
ska, reggae, power-pop mix behind the Iron Curtain and to the steamy jungles of
Brazil. They just returned from a sold-out tour with Reel Big Fish, played
at stadiums all over Europe in 2003, and averaged over 400 people per show on
their winter 2003-2004 “Ska Brawl” tour in the United States.
With so much excitement, they are also set to do another SKA BRAWL tour
in North America from Jan 20 – Mar 6, and then back to Europe for two months.
