Dear Diary,
It’s a “Travel Day” for us as 16 staff members of Team Degy head to NACA Live in Louisville, KY. (So excited!) Each of us coming from a different city and 11 different U.S. states represented, wow! We’re gearing up to sponsor our Saturday opening night event called “Night of the Roses” featuring several Degy represented acts as well as national artists. The real joy of the weekend is building relationships with everyone – both the old and the new. With this being a transient market, fresh faces enter each year creating new opportunities to make a connection. I can’t begin to explain how awesome it is to see the higher education professionals and colleagues from other talent businesses that have become our friends and family. It’s nothing short of a big reunion!
This week’s NACA Live conference is gathering 250+ colleges and ~1500 school delegates from across North America; this is the pinnacle of the college conference season. The concept exists to support student life programming, continuing education, peer-to-peer networking, and much more. There is so much value brought to institutions with Student Life Initiatives by attending one of about 10 college conventions held each school year that ALL institutions should be attending (Just a thought). You can’t replace the one-on-one opportunity to be amongst like-minded college peers tasked with enriching the campus life experience. What I think is too often overlooked by administrations is the real-world experience skills that are gained beyond the classroom. Even if the entertainment or events industry is not within their career scope, the opportunity to shop for talent and negotiate with representatives are business skills that become applicable far beyond NACA Live in Louisville, KY.
For now, we are “Off to the Races” for our Night of Roses and so much more.
Cant wait to tell you all about it!
