Dr. Fresch has been involved in music since he was 7-years-old, taking classical piano lessons for a long time as well as in rock bands, jazz, and even an acapella group. In 2007, Fresch started getting into dance music through listening to the likes of Justice, Daft Punk, MSTRKRFT, and The Bloody Beetroots. Along with these artists, the music that has influenced Dr. Fresch’s is foundational in Hip hop, saying that it “has provided a vocal foundation for a lot of my music, but also has provided instrumentation from a percussion and groove standpoint as well.” In addition, Dr. Fresch has blended hip hop with a mixture between ghetto house, bass house, deep house, and a combination of all three called deep-ghetto bass house.
Dr. Fresch and his manager Peter Rugo started their own record label Prep School. Taking notes from contemporary labels like Dim Mak, Fool’s Gold, and Mad Dacent, Prep School strives to become a lifestyle brand, not merely just selling music.
