Mae Martin is a Canadian-born, UK-based comedian, actor and writer. Martin’s career started in Canada, where they were involved in the comedy troupe “The Young and the Useless”. Martin’s work in Canada also includes writing for the Canadian sketch comedy series Baroness von Sketch Show. In 2011, Martin moved to the UK, and has since done several shows which have been toured, and took the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.[5] Their 2015 show was entitled Mae Martin:Us. They have contributed to various programmes on British television and radio. On radio, Martin presents Mae Martin’s Guide to 21st Century Sexuality on BBC Radio 4, and has contributed to The Now Show on the same station. Since 2018 they have also co-hosted the Radio 4 podcast GrownUpLand, which is targeted at millennials. In 2018 Martin debuted on a Netflix special, which was part of the Comedians of the World collection. In 2020, Martin co-created, wrote, and starred in the Channel 4/Netflix comedy series Feel Good.
Accomplishments
Martin wrote and starred in the Netflix comedy Feel Good and has won two Canadian Comedy Awards as part of the comedy troupe “The Young and the Useless”. At the age of 16, they were the youngest-ever nominee for the Tim Sims Encouragement Fund Award. They are a two-time Canadian Screen Award winner for Best Writing in a Variety or Sketch Comedy Series for the work they did with the Baroness von Sketch show’s writing team.
