Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty (born December 8, 1982), known professionally as Nicki Minaj, is a Trinidadian-born rapper, singer-songwriter, and actress. Dubbed as the “Queen of Rap” by several media outlets, Minaj is one of the most influential and best-selling female rap artists of all time, with 137 million records sold worldwide. She has garnered praise for her animated rapping and her songwriting which utilizes metaphors, double entendres, and wordplay.

In 2010, Minaj became the first female solo artist to have seven songs on the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously, and the first woman to appear on MTV’s Annual Hottest MC List since its inception in 2007. In 2019, her collaboration with Karol G, named “Tusa”, went on to be nominated twice at the Latin Grammys.
