Yolanda Quartey born July, 31 1983, known professionally as Yola or Yola Carter, is an English musician, singer and songwriter from Bristol, England. Yola received four nominations at the 62nd Grammy Awards, including the all-genre Best New Artist category. A beguiling amalgam of vintage country-soul, R&B, and classic pop arrangements, British singer/songwriter Yola earned widespread critical accolades for her 2016 solo EP Orphan Offering. She’s been through wide-ranging work as a U.K. session singer, then as the frontwoman for Americana band Phantom Limb before establishing herself as a solo artist with 2019’s Grammy-nominated, Dan Auerbach-produced Walk Through Fire. A follow-up, Stand for Myself, appeared two years later.
